Social factors in producing a piece of jewelry are just as important as the design and the finished piece. With all that is happening in our world today, I think it’s extremely imperative that the adornment is not only well made, but it is made WELL! Human lives and environment matter. Being proactive knowing where your cast metals, leather cords, chains and stones originate and knowing they are safe for ALL is fulfilling. “GO sustainability!!!”

From a sketch derives a drawing then to a painted piece of artwork. It doesn't stop there, no. Model making is key. Whether it is done in wax, or CAD, each piece needs to be approached differently and with detail. Then comes stone sourcing, the molds, casting, setting, finishing, stringing, packaging, displays, websites, marketing and the list goes on.

“DESIGNING, PRODUCING, BRANDING, OH MY!”

Every piece of jewelry has a reason to be loved and has a story, a history, a memory, an inspiration, a loved one or just because it’s beautiful and you just must have it or think someone will love it too! These reasons are tied into the birth of design as well.

My idea was to use my 30 years of creating jewelry for lots of different companies and brands and finally design from my heart and inspirations, for me. I knew all that was involved in the steps for making a beautiful piece of jewelry, but have learned it is way more. In creating something new, fresh and special, it takes relationships, it’s being socially conscious of metal and stone sources, having stamina for running around, being organized and having a passion for what you love so you can share your artwork with everyone that appreciates a finely made, handcrafted piece of jewelry.

In making jewelry and creating a brand of my own, I thought I would share my journey that is ever-changing and evolving. What I will share with you is the evolution of what takes place in my world of design, FROM conception to a finished line of jewelry. I plan to show how a concept is born from a sketch on paper that could be jotted on a napkin at a restaurant or even the back of a store receipt. The inspiration can be just about anything. I personally love the “unexpected” in nature, sculpture, today’s fashion and color pan tones or even years past, architecture from my travels, fluidity from fabrics, the ripple on a lake or just an emotion from an experience I’ve had. These are the things that make me tick.
